Blues dance is a family of vintage dances from black American tradition danced to blues music. The music acted as a commentary of the life experiences the artists lived through everyday, encompassing everything from celebration and joy to pain and sorrow. Both the music and the dance was heavily influenced by the political and social circumstances of the time. Blues dance creates a conversational dance encompassing a lead-follow dynamic, follower voice, and call and response between the partners.
